A Kansas City Staycation...

Began my 6 day 'Staycation' with a 5K at Arrowhead stadium. Went with my Mom, Cousin Michelle and my BF.  It was not fun having to be at Arrowhead by 7am to run around the parking lot, but we did it. Had no idea they signed up 13,000 other people for the same day. To top it I-70 was down to 1 lane. At least I can say I did it. The party at the end was off the hook! Not trying to offend, but I want to add that that was the whitest run I've ever been on. Not just the folks, but the clothes too...

Tuesday July 3rd, I helped Kansas City bike share ride the bikes into the city. It was fun, but jeez it was hot. I made out like a bandit. Got a free t-shirt (size L...didn't fit...regifting it), pizza for lunch from SPIN! Pizza (you can see the ad box in my bike basket), reusable bottle for water, some Neuro drinks and got to see Mayor Sly on a bicycle. Dude looked so afraid of it. Doubt he'll ever use that free 1yr card they gave him. Time will tell.

I did make use of the bike the rest of the day, stopping  two times to shower from the copious amounts of sweat 100º days can bring. All in all I rode 4.71 miles and walked 1.51 miles. Burning about 500 calories (runkeeper.com has to be underestimating this number...I sweated through 2 outfits!!!)

I just got a free 30 day pass for the bikes since I'm a member of the Kansas City DNA (it's not as elite as I just made it sound.) I actually have my own bike that I paid $25 for from Weird Stuff Antiques and is in perfect shape, but these have baskets. I'll likely ride these for free to keep the visual out there that bicycles are good for the city.  I know others don't feel the same way, but before cars people biked...just saying.
