It took about 2 week for the city to complete the repairs on the once sinking alley, but it's fixed! The hole in the picture below ended up being 12' deep, a 'playpen' as the excavator said. Repairs included excavating the site, pulling and replacing pipes/lines, filling the site and repaving. The entire site looks even better than before the sinking began. Kudos to the KC folks who fixed this!
My only regret is not snapping photos of the cross section of road layers that the excavation uncovered. If you have a good imagination, review the previous post and imagine what the cross section may have looked like.
